Four Broward County football games have been canceled due to COVID-19.

Cypress Bay’s season opener against Everglades and their second game against Western, as well as South Plantation vs. Nova have been canceled, according to Broward County Public Schools spokeswoman Cathy Brennan.

Boca Raton Christian vs. Pompano Beach was also canceled after a Blazers player tested positive, according to Boca Raton Christian athletic director John White.

A Nova coach tested positive for the virus, forcing that cancellation, according to athletic director Jason Hively.

Broward County and Palm Beach County public schools are beginning their football seasons this week after a two-month delay due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Everglades will play at South Plantation on Friday, according to Broward County Athletic Association Athletic Director Rocky Gillis.

The Broward County Public Schools COVID-19 dashboard lists four positive cases at Cypress Bay as of Monday: three employees and one student tested positive. Nova has two employees listed as positive and Pompano Beach has none.

The dashboard is updated on Tuesdays and Fridays.

Cypress Bay previously had to cancel cheerleading practices after a cheerleader tested positive for the coronavirus. Calvary Christian has also had to cancel a game after a junior varsity player tested positive for the virus.
