Four Central Jersey hospitals are among the best in the US. Here's where they rank

Two hospitals that serve Central Jersey have been named among the 50 best in the United States, and two others are in the top 250.

Overlook Medical Center in Summit and Morristown Medical Center were named in the Top 50 list released Tuesday by Healthgrades, an online source to help individuals find medical providers and schedule appointments based on transparent research.

Named in the Top 250 were Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital Somerset in Somerville and Penn Medicine Princeton Health in Plainsboro.

Other Central Jersey hospitals received awards in specialty care areas.

Overlook was also cited as one of the 100 Best Hospitals for Critical Care, 100 Best Hospitals for Gastrointestinal Care, 100 Best Hospitals for Gastrointestinal Surgery and 100 Best Hospitals for Stroke Care.

It was also recognized for excellence in Neurosciences, Cranial Neurosurgery, Bariatric Surgery and Pulmonary Care.

Morristown was also cited as one of the 100 Best Hospitals for Cardiac Care, 100 Best Hospitals for Coronary Intervention and recognized for excellence in Bariatric Surgery, Gastrointestinal Care and Gastrointestinal Surgery.

Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital Somerset was also named as one of the 100 Best Hospitals for Coronary Intervention, 100 Best Hospitals for Critical Care and 100 Best Hospitals for Gastrointestinal Care.

Penn Medicine Princeton Health was also cited as one of the 100 Best Hospitals for Critical Care, 100 Best Hospitals for Pulmonary Care and was also recognized for excellence in Cranial Neurosurgery and Neurosciences.

JFK University Medical Center in Edison was named one of the 100 Best Hospitals for Stroke Care and was recognized for excellence in Bariatric Surgery, Cranial Neurosurgery and Neurosciences.

Hunterdon Medical Center in Raritan Township was cited for excellence in Joint Replacement.

Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital in New Brunswick was cited for excellence in Bariatric Surgery.

To determine the top hospitals for 2024, Healthgrades evaluated risk-adjusted mortality and complication rates for more than 30 conditions and procedures at approximately 4,500 hospitals nationwide.

Unlike other hospital studies, Healthgrades ratings are based solely on patient outcomes.
