Four die in Augusta, Aiken domestic violence after pair of suspected murder-suicides

Autopsies are scheduled for fatal double-shootings in Richmond and Aiken counties over the long holiday weekend that appear to be two murder-suicides.

Richmond County deputies found the bodies of Rebecca Williams, 41, and Michael Williams, 41, at 9 p.m. Sunday inside the Augusta address they shared on the 1200 block of Holden Drive, according to Richmond County Coroner Mark Bowen. Each victim had a gunshot wound.

About 14 hours later, at 10:52 a.m. Monday, Aiken Department of Public Safety officers rushed to the Murphy USA fuel station at 3757 Richland Ave. W. in Aiken to find Tiffany Britt, 43, and her husband, George, 55, having "an active domestic dispute in the parking lot," according to Aiken County Coroner Darryl Ables. Mr. Britt fired at Mrs. Britt as officers arrived before turning the gun on himself. Mrs. Britt died later at a nearby hospital.

In each incident, the man was found dead with a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
