Four New England states on list of worst states to retire

Retirement is something a lot of people look forward to, but it doesn’t have to be the end of financial security or life satisfaction. According to WalletHub, “25% of non-retired adults haven’t saved any money for retirement, though not necessarily through any fault of their own.”

Four New England were recently ranked as the worst states to retire.

In a study done by WalletHub, Maine, Vermont, Connecticut, and Rhode Island are among some of the worst states to retire.

In order to rank the states, WalletHub compared the 50 states across three key dimensions, affordability, quality of life, and health care.

Maine received a score of 47.50 making it the 29th worse state to retire. Maine received a 43 for affordability, a 6 for quality of life, and a 23 for healthcare.

Vermont got a 47.12 making it the 34th worse state to retire and right behind them is Connecticut with a 47.11.

Vermont received a 48 for affordability, a 7 for quality of life, and a 6 for healthcare. Connecticut received a 44 for affordability, a 26 for quality of life, and a 3 for healthcare.

Rhode Island received a score of 44.95 making it the 40th worse state to retire. Rhode Island received a 39 for affordability, a 39 for quality of life, and a 14 for healthcare.

The two other New England states ranked 6th and 17th. New Hampshire was ranked 6th and Massachusetts was ranked 17th.
