Four former Reading United players selected in the MLS SuperDraft

Dec. 22—Four former Reading United players were selected in the MLS SuperDraft Wednesday night: Amferny Sinclair, Russell Shealy, Frantz Pierrot and Lyam MacKinnon.

United has had 79 players taken in the MLS SuperDraft.

Sinclair, a midfielder who played for Reading's USL League Two finalist team in 2019, was selected by Real Salt Lake in the second round with the 45th overall pick. He appeared in 10 games for United, including four in the playoffs, with an assist and four shots in 742 minutes. He played collegiately at Syracuse.

Shealy, a goalie who played for Reading in 2022, was taken by the LA Galaxy in the second round, 52nd overall. For United, he had a 1.50 goal-against average and made 40 saves in eight starts. He also played for Syracuse.

Pierrot, a forward who played two games for Reading in 2018, was taken by the Houston Dynamo in the third round, 63rd overall. He played in college for UConn.

MacKinnon, a forward who played for United in 2021, was selected by Nashville in the third round, 84th overall. He appeared in four games for Reading, scoring one goal, a game-winner, on 10 shots. He played at Villanova.
