Four injured in head-on crash north of Austin on Thursday

Sep. 22—LANSING TOWNSHIP, Minn. — Four people were injured in a head-on crash Thursday, Sept. 21, 2023, north of Austin.

A 2006 Honda Civic was southbound on U.S. Highway 218 when it collided with a 2009 Chevrolet Impala driving northbound at 4:21 p.m., according to a Minnesota State Patrol crash report.

The driver of the Chevrolet Impala, Eric John Heusinkveld, 47, of New Richland, Minnesota, was transported to Mayo Clinic Hospital-Saint Marys with non-life threatening injuries.

The driver and two passengers of the Honda Civic were also transported to Mayo Clinic Hospital-Saint Marys with non-life threatening injuries. They were Yesler Ariel Garcia Amador, 20, Johana Eusebia Angulo Mairena, 23, and Areysi Antonio Jarquin Castro, 27, all of Austin.

A third passenger, Raymon Castillo, 20, of Austin, was not injured, according to the report.

The Mower County Sheriff's Office, Austin Fire Department, Mayo Clinic Ambulance and Mayo Clinic Air Ambulance also responded to the scene.
