Four local municipalities received funding from the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection for their recycling programs.

Beaver County Department of Sustainability and Waste Management Director Holly Vogt said the four municipalities are Patterson Township, Rochester Township, Aliquippa and Beaver. They were awarded the funding by the DEP in April.

Patterson Township received $216,000 in order to start a drop off program for yard waste.

Vogt said it will be yard waste only for now, but said the township hopes to add on to this program in the future.

Rochester Township received $19,143 in order to get a recycling trailer for its recycling program, in order to better transport items.

Aliquippa received $70,000 in order to get a grinder to process yard waste materials.

Beaver received $109,215 in order to create a new drop off location for recycling for cardboard, paper and yard waste. The funding will be used for paving, fencing and collection boxes for the spot.
