Four LSU Tigers listed among Mel Kiper’s big board
There are plenty of former LSU Tigers that have declared for the NFL draft outside of the top players such as Cade York, Derek Stingley Jr, and Damone Clark. However, only a handful of those players are among the best at their positions.
On this list, you won’t find Cordale Flott, Chasen Hines, or Ty Davis-Price. There are a total of four former Tigers on the list with Derek Stingley Jr sitting at the very top among the nation’s best players.
In the latest update from Mel Kiper Jr (subscription required), LSU cornerback Stingley slides down one spot to No. 6.

Stingley injured his foot and played in just three games in 2021. It’s not ideal for an NFL prospect, but he had two full seasons of starting tape before that, so I don’t think it will be an issue in the draft. I wrote about him and his ceiling in the fall, and he’s the top corner in this class even though he hasn’t been consistently great since 2019. This ranking is all about his upside. His freshman film, when he was one of the best players on LSU’s national title team, is tremendous. He didn’t play as well in 2020, but that can mostly be attributed to the entire LSU defense being dreadful. He has shown that he can lock down SEC receivers. There are going to be questions about his up-and-down play, but NFL teams will see more good tape than bad and draft him based on his ceiling.
Stingley is still viewed as cornerback No. 1 in his positional rankings just ahead of Cincinnati’s Ahmad “Sauce” Gardner. A total of four former LSU Tigers made the list in Kiper’s positional rankings.
Offensive Guard: Ed Ingram, No. 9
Inside Linebacker: Damone Clark, No. 4
Kicker: Cade York, No. 1
While York is listed as the top kicker, he comes in at No. 2 for special teams players behind Penn State punter Jordan Stout.
