Four more file for upcoming school board races

As of Friday, four more school board candidates filed for the Nov. 8 general election, where a total of six board seats across Lawrence County’s two school districts, four from North Lawrence Community Schools and two from Mitchell Community Schools, could be contested.

The window to file closes at noon Aug. 26. Anyone who wishes to run will be required to obtain a minimum of 10 signatures on a prescribed state form. All signatures must be from a registered voter in the school district where the potential candidate resides. The registered voter must be registered in their listed address on the petition. Each signature will be verified by voter registration employees.

Forms are available from 8:30 a.m. to 4:40 p.m. Mondays through Fridays at the Lawrence County Voter Registration Office in the Courthouse Plaza, 918 16th St., Suite 200, Bedford.

The office is closed from noon to 1 p.m. for lunch.
