Four PCM boys land on all-HOIAC hoops team
Mar. 9—PCM junior Jacob Wendt ranked in the top six in the Heart of Iowa Athletic Conference in at least six statistical categories this winter. He averaged a double-double during conference play.
That helped Wendt earn first-team all-conference honors. The all-HOIAC boys' basketball teams were released on Thursday after conference champion Roland-Story completed its run at the state tournament.
Wendt was joined on the all-conference squad by sophomore Gavin Van Gorp and seniors Grant Van Veen and August Stock. Van Gorp garnered second-team honors, while Van Veen and Stock were the honorable mention picks.
All-conference recognition is based on statistics inside conference play only.
Wendt led the Mustangs and ranked fourth in the league in points per game at 16.0. His 13.0 rebounds per contest ranked second in the conference.
He also averaged 2.4 assists and 1.0 steals per game while ranking sixth in the conference with a field goal percentage of 52.4. His 89 field goals were fourth in the league and his 33 made free throws ranked third.
