Four Polk County cities to hold city commission elections Tuesday. Here's where to vote

Four cities in Polk County will hold in-person voting Tuesday got municipal elections: Auburndale, Fort Meade, Lakeland and Winter Haven.

Polling sites are open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.

Two elections for the City Commission will be held in Auburndale. Jordan Helms and Donishia Yarde are running for Seat 4, while Maulissa Braverman and Alex Cam are vying for Seat 5.

Voters in Fort Meade will also choose two city commissioners. Longtime incumbent Bob Elliott faces a challenge from Jaret Landon Williams for Seat 4. Samuel Berrien, Candice Filyaw Lott and Donnie True are running for Seat 5, which became vacant with the resignation of Barbara Arnold earlier this year.

Two seats will also be contested for the Lakeland City Commission. Incumbent Chad McLeod faces Kay Klymko and Dennis Odisho for the at-large seat, while Lolita Berrien, Guy LaLonde Jr. and Samuel Simmons are the candidates in the Northwest District. Simmons was appointed to the seat after Phillip Walker resigned to run last year for the Florida House of Representatives.

Winter Haven voters will vote on two City Commission races. Incumbent L. Tracy Mercer is being challenged by Kim Davis for Seat 1, while the Seat 5 election is a three-way race among Johnathon Bush, Clifton Dollison and Tom Freijo.

Several incumbents will gain new terms without facing election challenges: Jim “Possum” Schaill and Petrina McCutchen in Fort Meade, Bill Read in Lakeland and Nathaniel J. Birdsong Jr. and Brian Yates in Winter Haven.

Many polling locations have changed for municipal elections and might not be what's listed on voter ID cards. Check your precinct number on your voter ID.

AUBURNDALE

For Auburndale municipal elections, all voting takes place at the Auburndale Civic Center, 115 W. Park St.

FORT MEADE

For Fort Meade elections, all voting takes place at the Fort Meade Community Center, 10 3rd St. SW
