Four are running for three open seats on Midland Park's school board

MIDLAND PARK — Four candidates have filed to run for one of three seats on the borough's nine-member Board of Education in November's general election.

Incumbents James Canellas and Maryalice Thomas will be seeking their sixth three-year terms and Peter Triolo his fifth term. They are being challenged by resident Daniel McCarthy, who filed without posting a slogan.

The pre-K-12 district has 878 students in three buildings.

Although members often run uncontested, Midland Park's is among two-thirds of Bergen County districts experiencing contested races this fall.
