Four shot in parking lot on Savannah St. in Rochester; investigation underway

Four people were shot in a parking lot in downtown Rochester Tuesday night, according to police.

Officers were called to a parking lot near on Savannah Street to investigate a report that people had been shot around 8:15 p.m. Tuesday, according to police.

At the scene, officers found two injured women - a 63-year-old Rochester woman and a 29-year-old woman who did not live in Rochester, officers said. Both women were shot in the upper body and suffered injuries that were not considered life-threatening. The women were taken to an area hospital for treatment.

A 39-year-old Rochester man, shot in the lower body during the Savannah Street incident, was found several blocks away after he was involved in a car accident near East Main and Scio streets, officers said. His injuries were also not considered life-threatening and he was taken to an area hospital for treatment.

A fourth shooting victim, a 24-year-old Rochester man, was taken to Strong Memorial Hospital by private vehicle. According to police, he was shot at least once in the upper body and suffered life-threatening injuries. His medical status was not available Wednesday morning, but officers said all four shooting victims are expected to survive.

Police are investigating the incident. Further details were not released.

The parking lot on Savannah Street where the quartet was shot is located near an 8-story apartment building, just south of East Broad Street and a block east of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Memorial Park at Manhattan Square.
