The No. 8 quarterback in the country will not be a Clemson Tiger. Four-star Prentiss "Air" Noland out of Fairburn, Georgia, committed to Ohio State on Saturday. He chose the Buckeyes over his other top seven schools: Clemson, Alabama, Miami, Texas A&M, Oregon and Arkansas.

The 6-foot-3, 195-pound lefty was widely projected to commit to Ohio State after receiving an offer from the Buckeyes on Apriil 1. He received an offer from Clemson and new offensive coordinator Garrett Riley on March 11 after attending the Tigers' junior day. He was the first quarterback Clemson offered since Riley's arrival, and at the time seemed high on the Tigers.

Once Ohio State offered, however, the tide seemed to shift in the Buckeyes' favor. He announced his commitment Saturday night on a livestream broadcast on the 247Sports YouTube channel.

Noland's commitment comes just over a week after another sought-after quarterback who had Clemson in his top schools chose to go elsewhere. Five-star Jadyn Davis committed to Michigan on March 31. All four 2024 quarterbacks that Clemson has offered so far have now committed to other programs. Five-star DJ Lagway out of Texas chose Florida, and four-star Walker White out of Arkansas chose Auburn.

It's still early in the 2024 recruiting cycle, and Clemson isn't exactly in dire need of a quarterback, which has likely made recruiting top talent more difficult. Promising sophomore Cade Klubnik, a former five-star, is set to start in the 2023 season, and he has a talented freshman behind him in Christopher Vizzina. Vizzina was a four-star out of Alabama and the No. 6 quarterback in his class according to 247Sports Composite.
