Four-star Donnie Freeman talks Rutgers basketball offer and visit, Alabama, Iowa and Texas

Donnie Freeman, a class of 2024 power forward, is one of the top big men in the nation. He recently pulled in an offer from Rutgers basketball.

Freeman is a 6-foot-8 forward from St. John’s (Washington, D.C.). He is the fourth-best power forward in the nation and the No. 25 overall recruit according to the 247Sports Composite.

He holds offers from Georgetown, Iowa, Marquette, Maryland and Texas along with a recent Rutgers offer.

“I’m supposed to be taking an unofficial visit up there this weekend or the next. I don’t know when,” Freeman told RutgersWire of his likely visit to New Jersey.

He also plans on taking a visit to Iowa. He said that Alabama, Louisville and Minnesota are all beginning to heat up their recruitment and could be closing in on offers.

“He’s a personable coach, he’s a very personable coach. He has a lot of information about the game, he knows about the Big Ten. He talked about Keegan and his process. He thinks I can play on that level and he thinks he can get me there.

“He also talked about what (Keegan) did to get there.”

They’re really preaching that Texas is a good fit for a player like me and that they have a good track record of getting players like to me to the next level, getting them better.

“It’s the hometown pitch but they have their own sales pitch. It’s a new staff on campus, coach Cox and coach Willard. They are very active, I really like coach Willard, he is a high energy coach. He’s really honest. Coach Cox is very upfront and honest.”
