Four-star edge rusher Joshua Mickens commits to LSU football

Four-star edge rusher Joshua Mickens committed to LSU football on Sunday, he announced on Twitter.

Mickens is the No. 18 edge rusher and No. 164 player in the nation from the Class of 2023, per 247Sports Composite. He attends Lawrence Central High School in Indianapolis and is the No. 4 player in Indiana.

Southern Cal, UNC, Michigan State and Purdue were also contenders in his recruitment, per 247Sports. At 6-foot-5 and 225 pounds, Mickens' lead recruiters were special teams coordinator Brian Polian and defensive line coach Jamar Cain.

Mickens is the eighth player and second edge rusher to commit to LSU's 2023 class, joining four-star edge Jaxon Howard, four-star tight end Mac Markway, four-star cornerback Daylen Austin, four-star running back Trey Holly, four-star safety Ryan Yaites, four-star safety Michael Daugherty, and three-star wide receiver Kyle Parker.

LSU has the No. 37 class in the nation and the No. 6 class in the SEC following Mickens' commitment.

Mickens also plays basketball and last season averaged 11.8 points, 5.5 rebounds, 1.4 assists, 1.4 blocks, and 1.2 steals.
