Four-star point guard Josh Hubbard commits to Mississippi State basketball, Chris Jans

Mississippi's No. 1 recruit is staying in-state.

Josh Hubbard, Mississippi high school boys basketball's all-time leading scorer, committed to Mississippi State and coach Chris Jans on Monday.

The four-star point guard was released from his NLI with Ole Miss following the departure of former coach Kermit Davis in February. Hubbard picked the Rebels over the Bulldogs, Southern Cal, Xavier and Seton Hall in September.

The 5-foot-10, 180-pound Hubbard is the No. 15 point guard in the country and ranked No. 89 overall, according to the 247Sports Composite rankings. The senior helped lead Madison-Ridgeland Academy to a 34-8 record, win the MAIS Class 6A championship and advanced to the MAIS Overall Tournament semifinals.

Hubbard broke the Mississippi high school basketball scoring record on Feb. 17 in the MAIS Class 6A semifinals.

Hubbard passed Houlka standout Robert Woodard (1982-86) with 4,275 points to become the No. 1 scorer in state history.
