Four-star Pope John Paul II QB Kenny Minchey commits to Pittsburgh Panthers football

Four-star Pope John Paull II quarterback Kenny Minchey announced his commitment to Pitt football Saturday afternoon.

A 6-foot-1, 206-pound junior, Minchey is ranked as the No. 19 quarterback in the country and No. 9 prospect in the state for the Class of 2023 according to the 247Sports Composite.

Minchey had a breakout sophomore season for the Knights passing for 1,164 yards and 10 touchdowns. He followed that up last season completing 61% of his passes for 3,280 yards and 32 touchdowns with nine interceptions.

He also ran for 137 yards and three more touchdowns.

According to 247Sports, Minchey holds 16 offers including seven from Power Five programs. He chose the Panthers over schools like Michigan State, Tennessee, Vanderbilt, Virginia Tech and West Virginia.
