Four students test positive for COVID-19 at private Hotchkiss School in Salisbury

Four students at The Hotchkiss School, a private high school in Salisbury, tested positive for COVID-19 in the past two days, a school spokeswoman said Saturday.

The cases surfaced during the latest round of weekly surveillance testing at the school, which serves about 520 boarding students and a smaller number of day students, Hotchkiss spokeswoman Hope Cobera said.

The infected students and those they came in contact with have either been sent home or quarantined on campus, Cobera said. The 9th- to 12th-grade school in the town’s Lakeville section has reverted to remote learning for all students. Boarding students are keeping mostly to their dormitories and day students are staying home, with no sports or other group activities, Cobera said.

Starting Sunday, all students will be tested weekly, using the saliva test developed at Yale University, she said.
