Four UGA football fans, one minivan. How you can track their ride from Athens to L.A.

The Twitter account identifies itself as "4 Dawgs, 2 casino stops and 1 luxury minivan."

It is tracking four passionate Georgia fans as they make their journey from Athens to Los Angeles for Monday night's national championship game.

"Road Trip to the 'Ship," with the Twitter handle @ATH2LA, was created two days ago, its first post showing four friends in front of UGA's Butts-Mehre Heritage Hall. They held up UGA foam fingers while posing in front of the minivan they rented Friday morning.

"We've got a long way to go, and a short time to get there……Keep your foot hard on the pedal son, never mind them brakes. Let it all hang out 'cause we got a run to make. The boys are thirsty in Atlanta, and there's beer in Texarkana," the post read, quoting Jerry Reed's lyrics from East Bound and Down in Smokey and the Bandit.

The men, known in the post as Bear, Bob-O, Moe and Worm, traveled from Athens to Tunica, Mississippi, on Friday for their first casino stop.

"We have not had a plan the whole way," Bear, whose name is Craig Meeks, told the Athens Banner-Herald on Sunday as they traveled on I-40 through Gallup, New Mexico. "Our only plan we made was to stop in Tunica. After that it's just been whatever."

On Saturday, they drove some 14 hours from Tunica to Albuquerque, New Mexico, with tweets chronicling stops for catfish in Seminole, Oklahoma, three of the four in deep sleep, a breathtaking sunset and a stop at a gas station in Groom, Texas, where they received a "Go Dawgs" from several station attendants claiming they were TCU fans.

The group has been friends for some 25 years with Worm, Clay McElroy, a Clarke Central grad and the only Athens native. The others moved to the area and have lived in the Classic City for a number of years.

They devised this plan last Saturday, or Sunday morning, after Georgia beat Ohio State in the Peach Bowl.

"We were at a party on New Year's Eve, and then the next day we woke up and went to a buddy's in Athens, sitting at a bar in his house," Bear said, "and we all just started saying 'what if we drove cross-country?'"

Instead of making the drive back to Athens after the game, they decided to fly home.

"Originally, we were going to do a full round trip, but now we're going to drive to Phoenix and fly back and drop this van off in Phoenix," Bear said. "We started looking at the shape of our bodies and decided we'll ride back to Phoenix and fly from there."

Their amusing updates center around nostalgic movie references and humorous song lyrics that depict a moment from their trip.

At 7:20 a.m. MT Sunday morning, the account posted a photo from their hotel.

"The 4 Horsemen got 5+ hours of sleep and woke up for a beautiful Albuquerque sunrise."

They plan to travel more than 11 hours from Albuquerque to Palm Springs on Sunday. Moe jokes that they should stop for some gambling along the way because "Google is incorrect, 'due to the Earth’s polar radius of curvature', it’s clearly faster to go through Las Vegas.' Moe says 'it’s just science.'”

They will ride into Los Angeles Monday morning and attempt to find a spot to tailgate despite Sofi Stadium's 'no tailgating' policy.

The Twitter account claims the trip is 2,267 miles and 80 hours. They also claim to have '240 ice cold beers' to consume during their adventure.

When they began the Twitter account, they were unsure if anyone would follow along. As of Sunday afternoon it had amassed 770.

With no slowdowns along the way, they'll be in Sofi Stadium Monday night at 7:30 when Georgia faces TCU with a shot at back-to-back national titles.
