Fourth of July 2020: What Is Open, Closed In Davidson?

DAVIDSON, NC — The ongoing coronavirus pandemic has insured that Fourth of July celebrations will feel a bit different this year, however one thing remains the same — many services will take a holiday break.

This year, the July 4th falls on a Saturday. Patch has compiled a list of closings you can expect in Davidson and Mecklenburg County.

Most all Mecklenburg County offices will be closed Friday, July 3 in observance of Independence Day, although some essential facilities or services will remain open or have modified hours.

Expect the following government offices and businesses to be closed:

  • Town of Davidson offices — Closed Monday, July 6

  • Public Libraries — The main library and all library branches are closed Friday, July 3

  • U.S. Postal Service — all post offices will be closed, no deliveries

  • Federal offices and courts — Closed Friday, July 3

  • State offices — Closed Friday, July 3

  • Mecklenburg County offices — Closed Friday, July 3

  • Mecklenburg County Department of Social Services — Closed Friday, July 3. The Department of Social Services hotlines operate 24 hours a day, seven days a week to receive reports of suspected abuse or neglect. To report abuse of seniors or the disabled, call 704-336-CARE (2273). To report abuse, neglect or human trafficking of children, call 980-31-HELPS (43577).

  • Mecklenburg County Health Department — Closed Friday, July 3

  • Mecklenburg County Elections Office — Closed Friday, July 3

  • Mecklenburg County Register of Deeds Office — Closed Friday, July 3

  • County Solid Waste facilities and full service centers — Closed Friday, July 3 and Saturday, July 4, 2020.

  • Mecklenburg County parks, nature preserves and greenways — Open

  • Banks — Regular hours. Because July 4 falls on a Saturday, the Federal Reserve System will not observe it in 2020.
