Fourth of July is around the corner: Here are 10 towns across CT to catch a fireworks display

Independence Day is a few weeks away, along with plenty of fireworks displays to choose from across Connecticut!

While the Fourth of July falls on a Monday this year, events are starting as early as the 1st. There’s music from a multitude of bands, food trucks from across the state, and activities for you and the whole family to enjoy. You’ve got weekend-long shindigs like New London’s Sailfest and Enfield’s Fourth of July Town Celebration. You can even check out a ballgame with the Yard Goats and wrap it up with a fireworks show!

Hartford Yard Goats Fireworks Display

Looking to catch a baseball game? Why not enjoy some fireworks, too?

From Friday through Sunday, July 1-3, the Hartford Yard Goats will be hosting fireworks shows after each game. Watch the Yard Goats square up against the Binghamton Rumble Ponies, a Mets affiliate, with some stadium chow and beautiful weather. You’ll see star-spangled uniforms on all the players and a “Red, white & boom” fireworks display once the game’s wrapped up!

Killingly Red, White and Blue Celebration and Fireworks

With a date of Friday, July 1, Killingly’s annual celebration is ready for Independence Day.

The fun starts at 5 p.m. at Owen Bell Park. You’ll have RED LIGHT! The Band playing at 7, with plenty to enjoy around the area until the fireworks start up around 9:15 p.m. Start your summer right and have some fun!

New Milford Fireworks Celebration

Tucked away in Litchfield County is New Milford’s annual Fireworks Celebration, located at he Woman’s Club of Greater New Milford Cake on the Green.

Opening ceremony kicks off July 1 at 6:30 p.m., with live music by Songhorse. Kick back in Connecticut’s natural beauty with plenty of room for the whole family. Fireworks kick off at sunset with an estimated start time of 9:30 p.m.

Middletown Fireworks Festival 2022

Middletown’s annual Fireworks Festival returns for Saturday, July 2!

The fun begins at 5 p.m. at Harbor Park, right along the Connecticut River. Check out the numerous shops and restaurants around Middletown until the show begins sometime after 9 p.m. Fireworks are set off from a barge in the river, giving plenty of viewing angles to enjoy the display.

Waterbury Food Truck and Firework Extravaganza

Located at and around the Brass Mill Center, Waterbury’s annual Independence Day celebration is back for another year of fun on Sunday, July 3.

The event starts at 2 p.m. with plenty for friends and family alike to enjoy. Expect over 30 of “Connecticut’s best food trucks and vendors” to peruse and shop at. Kids can partake in face panting, henna, and plenty more as the evening ticks along.

The main event starts at sundown after 9 p.m. Just remember to social distance as best you can!

New Haven 4th of July Fireworks

Along with numerous cafes, bars, restaurants and more ready to celebrate Independence Day, you wont want to miss out on the main event Monday, July 4.

The main locale for watching the show is the Wilbur Cross High School, but you’re sure to see the display from most parts of New Haven. You can expect it to begin right after sundown—usually around 9 p.m.

There’s a mix of different boating options as well for folks looking to watch the show on the Connecticut river.

New Britain 2022 Great American Boom

Held in Willow Brook Park this year, New Britain is happy to bring back their Great American Boom fireworks event for July 4.

This event is drive-in, with a $10 admission fee per car. Parking will open up starting at 7 p.m. with a DJ and plenty of food trucks to choose from. You’re likely to find thousands of other guests joining in, so expect a solid crowd!

New London Fireworks Extravaganza

As part of their Sailfest event, expect a fantastic fireworks display on Saturday, July 9 at 9 p.m.!

Sailfest itself runs from July 8-10. Called “Southeastern Connecticut’s premiere summertime event,” you’ll find amusement rides, free entertainment, over 200 different vendors, and plenty more to enjoy. One of it’s biggest draws, too, is the myriad of ships to filling the New London harbor.

Book a ticket and enjoy the fireworks on a ship; you’re likely to see the show from most parts of New London either way!

Enfield Fourth of July Town Celebration

Enfield’s hosting their three day event from July 8-10 in celebration of Independence Day.

Expect a plethora of events from years past, like a craft and vendor marketplace, community tables, kids rides and games, a parade, a road race, and plenty more. Attendance is free, with music throughout the weekend and a fireworks finale on Sunday after sunset!

Norwich Harbor Fireworks

Norwich is happy to bring another year of Independence Day festivities to the Howard T. Brown Memorial Park for Friday, July 8.

Sponsored by Foxwoods Resort Casino, you’ll be finding a medley of food trucks, live music, and more starting at 5 p.m. Folks are encouraged to spend time about the historic town; just make sure you’re back by 9 p.m. so you don’t miss the show!
