Fourth of July in Wilson County: Circle P Ranch, car shows, fireworks, and more

Fourth of July activities are scheduled in Wilson County.

Lebanon

Activities at the James E. Ward Agricultural Center on East Baddour Parkway start around noon with a car show.

Food carts will be available at noon for purchase. Free hot dogs and watermelon will also be available from 4 p.m. until they are gone.

Inflatables (4-8 p.m.), face painting (4-7 p.m.), paint a flag craft tables (5-7 p.m.), selfie photo booths, and live music are planned. An opening ceremony is scheduled at 5 p.m., with Mayor Rick Bell.

The General Store at Fiddlers Grove will be open (2-6 p.m.), and a jazz band will play at the Back Porch state in Fiddlers Grove (2-4 p.m.).

Admission and parking are free.

The fireworks display is scheduled for around 9 p.m.

Mt. Juliet (city display)

Mt. Juliet will hold its fireworks display at Mt. Juliet League fields on Lebanon Road at 9 p.m.

Free parking is available at the fields and along Lebanon Road. Those attending are encouraged to arrive early for the best viewing locations.

Mt. Juliet (Circle P Ranch)

Tom Needham, who headed up the city’s Fourth of July fireworks display for approximately 30 years, returns to Circle P ranch for the second straight year.

Tailgating will begin around 5 p.m., and fireworks will start at about 9 p.m.

Multiple food vendors, bounce houses, and live music will be part of the tailgating time. A civil war cannon will be shot in the minutes leading up to the fireworks show, property owner Rufus Page said.

Needham will shoot “thousands” of fireworks for a display that will last more than 30 minutes, he said.

The fireworks are lit on a hill, which Page says for viewing in areas around Circle P Ranch as well.

Victory Baptist Church, the Mt. Juliet train station, and some commercial developments on North Mt. Juliet Road are among the surrounding locations to watch the fireworks.

Watertown Stars, Stripes, and Squirt Guns

Watertown holds its popular parade at 3 p.m., which includes squirt gun fights for those who want to get wet.

The parade starts at Watertown Elementary and travels on Main Street, which includes the town square.

The front section of the parade will be the squirt zone with guns and water. Residents and those along the parade path can shoot their own squirt guns or even non-pressurized hoses.

Water balloons and pressure hoses are not allowed.

The parade has a "dry section” with no squirt guns that can include classic cars, horses, and Shriners in the back.

Fireworks start at dark at Three Forks Park.

Field of Flags

Hundreds of U.S. flags will be displayed at the James E. Ward Agricultural Center at 945 Baddour Parkway in Lebanon from July 1-4.

The public is invited to walk through the rectangular field of flags. Participants can adopt or foster a flag.

Proceeds will benefit the American Legion Post 15, Veterans of Foreign Wars, Post 5015, Vietnam Veterans of America, Chapter 1004, and the Associates Vietnam Veterans of America, Chapter 1004.

Contributions from the Field of Flags will also go to assist veterans with rent, electric bills, food, and other needs.

The display opens at 1 p.m., July 1. An opening ceremony is scheduled at 10 a.m., and closing ceremonies at 3:30 p.m., July 4.

Starstruck Farm

The former Reba McEntire property on State Route 109 which is now a campground and event venue will hold activities with gates opening at 5 p.m., July 4.

The cost is $20 to park.

People can bring their own food or barbeque is available for purchase.

Live music, hayrides, and a bonfire with S'mores are planned.
