‘Fox & Friends’ Mocked by Latin American Presidents After ‘Mexican Countries’ Gaffe
“Fox & Friends” continued to come in for heat over their gaffe about their “3 Mexican Countries” chyron, with the president’s of two Latin American nations trolling the morning show on Twitter Monday.
“The Presidents of 2 Mexican countries #FoxandFriends,” El Salvador’s president-elect Nayib Bukele said in a trollish tweet. The post contained an image of Bukele shaking hands with Mexican president Andrés Manuel López Obrador. Bukele pinned the tweet to the top of his profile to make sure everyone saw it.
It’s unclear whether Obrador was totally signed on to the trolling. His account did not respond or retweet the Bukele jab.

Reps for Fox News did not immediately respond to a request for comment over the issue.
On Sunday, “Fox & Friends” and its host network came in for broad mockery over an early morning chyron noting that President Trump would cut aid to “3 Mexican Countries.” As many pointed out, there is only one “Mexican country,” and that the nations being targeted by Trump — El Salvador, Honduras and Guatamala — are in fact Central American.
“This is an actual banner from “Fox & Friends Weekend.” 6:03am today. I double checked because I didn’t believe it at first,” CNN media reporter Brian Stelter said in a tweet that received more than 16,000 retweets. CNN later ran at least two segments on the gaffe and Stelter also produced this article about the mistake.
As the chyron took off during the Sunday morning broadcast, Fox News reporter Ed Henry addressed the issue and apologized for the mistake.
“We apologize for the error,” he said. “It never should’ve happened.”
