Fox to present interview with Zelensky, Bret Baier from front lines of war

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky sat down for an interview with Fox News anchor Bret Baier this week from the front lines of his country’s ongoing war with Russia.

Baier’s interview, which will air Thursday and Friday on Fox’s nightly newscast “Special Report,” will signify the first time the Ukrainian leader has been interviewed on the front lines of combat since the war started in 2022.

“Taking place less than a mile and a half from Russian positions, Baier will speak with the president about the two-year anniversary of the war, the debate in Congress on additional funding to Ukraine and the latest developments in the ongoing conflict,” the network said announcing the interview.

“He will also travel with the president as he receives a military briefing, presents medals to some of his troops and visits wounded soldiers in the hospital,” Fox added.

Baier’s sit-down with Zelensky comes just days after Tucker Carlson, the network’s former top-rated host, published an interview with Russian President Vladimir Putin during which Putin pushed propaganda about the war and criticized the United States’s involvement in the conflict.

Carlson has earned widespread rebuke from media and political observers for his capitulation to Putin and his praise of Russia’s infrastructure and economy.

Last fall, Lachlan Murdoch, the chair of Fox Corp., accompanied reporter Benjamin Hall to meet with Zelensky as the Fox corespondent was given the country’s Order of Merit.

Hall was injured during a 2022 attack that killed Fox cameraman Pierre Zakrzewski and local Ukrainian journalist Oleksandra Kuvshynova as they were covering the war.
