Foxtown Brewing's planned downtown development is proceeding with site purchase.

Mequon-based Foxtown Brewing's plans to build a taproom, distillery and restaurant in downtown Milwaukee are proceeding with the development site's sale.

Foxtown MKE LLC purchased the 18,840-square-foot lot, which overlooks the Milwaukee River at 412-420 N. Plankinton Ave., for $995,000.

That's according to state real estate records posted online Tuesday. Those records name Walker's Landing Associates as the seller.

The three-story, 28,000-square-foot development, known as Foxtown Landing, is planned for a site adjacent to the proposed downtown dog park.

Foxtown Landing will feature pet-friendly outdoor spaces overlooking the river, as well as a rooftop patio and balcony.

Foxtown Brewing is an affiliate of pet food maker Fromm Nieman Brands.

Fromm Family Pet Food is to be the title sponsor of the future off-leash dog park, planned for a vacant site under I-794 between the Milwaukee River and Plankinton Avenue. The dog park and Foxtown Landing are to be tied together by a public river walk.

The dog park plans include separately fenced small and large dog areas, water stations, upgraded lighting and other pet amenities.

There was no immediate word Tuesday on when construction might begin on both projects. The Milwaukee Downtown and Historic Third Ward business improvement districts continue to raise money for the dog park.

The Common Council and Mayor Cavalier Johnson in December approved the sale of a city-owned parcel that is part of the Foxtown Landing site. Foxtown MKE is buying that 5,4181-square-foot lot, 406 N. Plankinton Ave., for $25,000.

The $10 million Foxtown Landing will be privately financed. The public river walk will be financed with a combination of private and public money.
