Frackville native publishes mystery novel

Jun. 26—Frackville natiave Shannon Zaylskus, a daughter of Jack and Barb Zaylskus, has published a mystery novel called "Amy" under the name of S.L. Zee.

"Amy" is about a homicide detective, Ford, and his partner, Jesse, who fall down a rabbit hole of murder, insanity and love. When they are spit out into the land of the occult, they must figure out a string of homicides before it is too late. Ford must eventually risk life and limb to get back the life he once lived.

The novel is available on Amazon, Barnes & Noble and Xlibris.

Zaylskus was born at Ashland State General Hospital in 1976 and raised in Frackville.

She is a 1995 graduate of Cardinal Brennan High School. She attended Cedar Crest College, Allentown, and Georgia Military College, with a major in English education. It was there that one of her professors, Joe Sersey, encouraged her to write.

She was a member of the Air Force Security Forces and fought in Operation Iraqi Freedom. Zaylskus is currently working at a nursing home after retiring from a state correctional facility and now lives in Mount Carmel.
