FRAMINGHAM — Mayor-elect Charlie Sisitsky was admitted to a hospital Friday night after experiencing complications from a medical procedure, according to a statement from his campaign team.

In a statement, members of the group "Charlie for Framingham" said the 76-year-old Sisitsky was "experiencing complications from a routine medical procedure, which resulted in an infection."

The statement did not disclose the nature of the medical condition or where the mayor-elect was hospitalized.

Supporters said his "condition is stable and he will be making a full recovery."

Sisitsky will direct transition work and form his transition team as he recovers, campaign team members said, adding that the mayor-elect "is looking forward to resuming full activities in the near future."

Sisitsky was elected to become Framingham's second mayor after he defeated incumbent Yvonne Spicer in last week's municipal election. He will be inaugurated on Jan. 1.
