Framingham police are investigating incident that led to lockdowns at two schools

FRAMINGHAM Police are investigating a reported threat on Thursday morning that caused two schools and another School Department building to be put under a shelter-in-place order for about 45 minutes.

The Fuller Middle School, the McCarthy Elementary School and the Farley Building were each affected.

According to a Framingham Police Department press release, officers at 8:45 a.m. Thursday responded to the Fuller Middle School on Flagg Drive in regards to a juvenile who allegedly "made vague threats toward a specific individual last night (Wednesday)."

Police searched the school, and the shelter-in-place order was lifted at 9:33 a.m.

Superintendent of Schools Robert Tremblay sent a message home to parents saying the situation "was managed" by police and school and district administrators and staff as part of an effort to minimize any issues for students.

"The situation was complicated by a simultaneous and coincidental fire alarm announcement, which created some confusion at Fuller," Tremblay wrote.

Social, emotional and mental health support was available for all students and staff at all of the affected buildings throughout Thursday, Tremblay wrote.
