Framingham's MetroWest YMCA Hosts Kid-Friendly Vaccine Clinic Saturday

FRAMINGHAM, MA – The MetroWest YMCA will host a free, child-friendly COVID-19 vaccine clinic on Saturday as part of its celebration of Healthy Kids Day.

The vaccination clinic will be held at the MetroWest YMCA, Framingham Branch, at 280 Old Connecticut Path from 1-5 p.m. People who get vaccinated on-site will receive a $25 grocery gift card while supplies last.

The clinic is a collaboration with the Massachusetts Department of Public Health (DPH) and is free to everyone age 5 and older. No ID or proof of health insurance is required.

Healthy Kids Day is a YMCA program that celebrates children’s mental and physical health while teaching healthy habits, encouraging active play, and inspiring a lifetime love of physical activity. This year's event will feature sports, an outdoor obstacle course, family team-building activities, arts and crafts, a Bookmobile, and a fire truck.

“Healthy Kids Day is another opportunity to help children learn how to be safe during the pandemic and encourage smart, healthy habits,” said Massachusetts Public Health Commissioner Margret Cooke. “We are grateful to the local YMCA branches across the Commonwealth who are joining with us to increase access to the COVID-19 vaccine and educate families about the importance of getting vaccinated and boosted.”

"Partnering with the Department of Public Health to offer free COVID-19 vaccinations is a great addition to Healthy Kids Day," said Lauren Hanley, Senior Director of Health Integration at the MetroWest YMCA. "We hope to inspire kids to stay moving and learning all summer long and support families to live healthily and keep our community strong."

The clinics are part of the DPH Vaccine Equity Initiative to increase awareness and access to the COVID-19 vaccine and encourage families to get vaccinated and boosted. The MetroWest YMCA is among many local partners hosting clinics where the focus is on meeting people where they are and encouraging a family-friendly atmosphere in which to get vaccinated.

To date, more than 5.3 million people in Massachusetts are now fully vaccinated. COVID-19 vaccines and boosters have been rigorously tested and proven to be safe and effective, providing protection from the virus and preventing serious illness. Learn more at mass.gov/kidsclinic.
