Framingham's Potter Road Elementary School has named its next principal

FRAMINGHAM Alana Cyr has been chosen to become the next principal of the Potter Road Elementary School, Superintendent of Schools Robert Tremblay announced Monday in a press release.

Cyr, who is currently principal at the Fannie E. Proctor Elementary School in Northborough, takes over on July 1. She replaces Larry Wolpe, who is leaving for a position in Acton Public Schools.

In a statement, Tremblay said he and members of the Potter Road community were impressed with Cyr's "warm and enthusiastic interactions with students and staff."

"We look forward to working with Ms. Cyr toward a seamless transition for the school community and supporting her efforts to onboard a vice principal at Potter Road Elementary School, as this is a process that Ms. Cyr will facilitate in her role as building principal,” Tremblay said.

Cyr holds a master's degree and bachelor of science degree in moderate disabilities from Fitchburg State College.

“It is with great enthusiasm that I join the Potter Road School and Framingham Public Schools,” Cyr said in a statement. “I am eager to meet the students, faculty and families, as I enter into my new role on July 1st. It is evident that the Potter Road School is a proud and caring community, with a focus on recognizing and celebrating the strengths of all students.

Cyr added that over the course of the upcoming school year, she looks forward to "establishing collaborative partnerships that will continue to support students, staff members and families.”

Potter Road Elementary School serves students in grades K-5. Several years ago, it launched a dual-language program, where students are taught in two different languages.
