The article says that Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi arrived in Paris for a two-day visit on July 13-14 at the invitation of French President Emmanuel Macron. The two leaders wanted to discuss the issue of military and financial cooperation between the countries.

The media adds that Macron called on his counterpart to present his proposals on the international stage. Modi instructed his subordinates to create a peace plan to find a negotiated solution to Russia’s war in Ukraine.

However, the publication emphasizes that although the Indian prime minister and his country are in favor of a diplomatic path to resolving the war, they are unlikely to agree to act as a mediator between Russia and Ukraine.

Le Monde said that the proposal to be put forth by the Indian authorities may differ from the previously proposed ideas of the Chinese government, African countries, and the proposals of Latin American countries.
