France’s Parry upsets Ukrainian Tsurenko in New Zealand hardcourt tournament, Svitolina still in running

France’s Diane Parry knocked out No.3 seed Ukrainian Lesia Tsurenko with a three-sets defeat in the WTA 250 ASB Classic hardcourt second round in Auckland, New Zealand.
Despite being the favorite, Tsurenko managed to win just five games in the 1/8 final two sets.

Diane Parry (WTA 76) - Lesia Tsurenko (WTA 32) - 2-6, 6-4, 6-1
In the first round of the tournament, Tsurenko defeated Sachiya Vickery in straight sets.
Ukraine's top-ranked player Elina Svitolina is still in the tournament. She defeated Caroline Wozniacki in the first round and is scheduled to face Emma Raducanu in the 1/8 round on Jan. 3.
Tsurenko's elimination follows the earlier news that Ukraine's second-ranked player, Anhelina Kalinina, was knocked out of the Brisbane International tournament in Australia.
