Tech men's golf

Third-ranked Texas Tech and fourth-ranked North Carolina will try to square off in match play at noon CST Friday in Waimea, Hawaii after the Amer Ari Invitational was canceled on Thursday because of high winds each of the first two days.

Six players from each side will take part.

The two teams will try again at Hapuna Golf Course, the site of the Amer Ari. Play there was stopped on account of unplayable conditions both Wednesday and Thursday before teams reached the turn.

The National Weather Service forecast early Thursday afternoon called for strong and damaging winds, sustained from 36 to 40 miles per hour and gusts to 70. The forecast for Friday calls for wind from 22 to 31 mph, gusting to 55.

Two other Amer Ari participants, No. 10 Georgia Tech and No. 18 Texas, also have set up a match-play event for Friday, starting one hour after Tech and North Carolina begin.
