A nearly century-old mansion for sale in Tulsa is Wright up some buyer's alley.

Westhope, designed and built by Frank Lloyd Wright at 3704 S Birmingham Ave., is on the market for $7,995,000, listed with an OKC agent, Rob Allen with Sage Sotheby's International.

It's one of just three Wright-constructed buildings in Oklahoma. The others are 19-story Price Tower in Bartlesville, and the Harold Price Jr. House there. Price Tower inspired The Classen, now an apartment tower, at 2200 N Classen Blvd. in Oklahoma City. Wright's influence on architecture's Prairie School movement still influences design in OKC.

Wright built the home in Tulsa for his cousin, Tulsa Tribune Publisher Richard Lloyd Jones, who named it after his grandmother’s estate in England, the Tulsa World reported. Started in 1929 and finished in 1931, the home has five bedrooms and five bathrooms across 10,405 square feet on 1.5 acres.

"The innovative architect built the home with an abundance of windows — 5,200 panes of glass were used — that allow natural light to pour through, with textile blocks stacked into vertical columns lining the outside, giving Westhope its striped appearance. Wooden accents, furniture and cabinetry — a nod to Jones’ love of 'organic' — are found throughout the home," the Tulsa World reported.

A new owner updated the home in 1965. Westhope was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1972. The World said Stuart Price of Tulsa's Price Family Properties bought it in October 2021.

“We’re incredibly lucky to be stewards of this masterpiece,” Price told the Tulsa World in 2022.

Allen, the real estate agent, said it's drawn national attention.

"It's hard to overestimate what a unique home this is, not just in Oklahoma, but in architecture," he told The Oklahoman. "It’s one of the largest Frank Loyd Wright homes ever built, and his only textile block design outside of California (of which there are only a handful). We are getting media and buyer interest from across the country."
