FRANKLIN COUNTY, Pa. (WHTM) – Franklin County Democratic Committee Chair Cameron Schroy is running for the 33rd State Senate District, a seat currently held by Republican Doug Mastriano.

Schroy, 27, is a graduate of Shippensburg University and is a social studies teacher at Waynesboro Area Senior High School.

“I am proud to announce my candidacy for the Democratic nomination for state senate,” said Schroy.  “I am from here, I love it here, and I want to make sure we are represented in Harrisburg the way we deserve. Franklin County and Adams County deserve a senator who will be an advocate for our region – not one who picks partisan fights and refuses to work for the greater good of all (Pennsylvanians). We must strengthen and protect the quality of life of our residents, and make our corner of the Commonwealth one where there are more opportunities to build a good life.”

Mastriano won re-election to the State Senate in 2020, defeating Democrat Richard Sterner with 68.6% of the vote. Mastriano lost a bid for Governor in 2022 to Democrat Josh Shapiro.

The 33rd district includes all of Franklin and Adams counties.
