FRANKLIN (Somerset) – Democrat Phil Kramer beat back a challenge from Republican former Mayor Brian Levine to win another term as mayor of Somerset County's most populous municipality.

In a township dominated by registered Democrats, Kramer outpolled Levin by an 8,467-to-3,902 margin.

In the race for three Township Council seats, Democrats Kimberly Francois, 8,808 votes, Ram Anbarasan, 8,362, and Alex Kharazi, 8,656, outpolled their two Republican opponents, Alhaji Noah Fofanah, 3,581, and Frank Kunz Sr., 3,735.

Levine was trying for a political comeback. He served as mayor from 2004 to 2014 but left office to serve as a Somerset County freeholder. He lost his bid for a third term on the county level in the Democratic resurgence in the county.
