Franklin police officer suspended after death by auto charge

FRANKLIN (Somerset) – A township police officer has been suspended after he was charged Thursday with death by auto in connection with a March 18 crash in Warren County.

Lawrence J. Stiscia, 46, of Union Township (Hunterdon), is facing a death by auto charge in connection with the fatal crash on Route 31 in Washington Township, Warren County Prosecutor James Pfeiffer announced.

Stiscia previously was charged with driving while intoxicated and careless driving.

A blood test found that Stiscia's blood alcohol level was 0.22%, Pfeiffer said. The legal limit is.0 08%.

According to the prosecutor, Stiscia was driving a pickup truck on northbound Route 31 when he ran into a motorcycle that was attempting to turn onto Asbury Anderson Road from Route 31 about a mile north of the Hunterdon County border.

Wayne Allyn Davidson, 43, of Lebanon Township, died in the crash.

Stiscia was released on pretrial supervision following his first appearance in Superior Court.

Stiscia, who joined the Franklin Police Department in 2007, had an annual salary of $122,764 in 2021, according to state records.
