Frasier star Laura Linney has shared a disappointing update on the show's revival plans, admitting that she hasn't been contacted about returning for the Paramount+ sequel series.

Ending in 2004, the original sitcom, which ran for 11 seasons, is now gearing up for a ten-part revival that will see Kelsey Grammer return as Dr Frasier Crane, the psychiatrist-turned-radio-host.

The revival series will follow Frasier as he begins a new life in a new city. He'll be accompanied by a cast consisting of original characters as well as some new faces.

At the end of the original series, Frasier fell in love with Laura Linney's matchmaker Charlotte before she relocated to Chicago from Seattle. The final moments of the series finale revealed that Seattle native Frasier had followed Charlotte to Chicago.

When asked by Metro if fans will see Charlotte again, Linney said: "Not that I know of! I love that whole group of people so I'd be... I have no idea what their plans are. They're keeping it close to the vest."

Meanwhile, it was recently confirmed that original cast member Peri Gilpin would be reprising her role as Roz Doyle in the sequel series. She'll appear in a guest-star capacity.

Also returning to the sitcom is Bebe Neuwirth, who will reprise her role as Frasier's ex-wife Dr Lilith Sternin.

Sadly, Frasier won't be joined by original characters Niles, Daphne or Martin, Frasier's wise-cracking father played by the late John Mahoney.

However, Grammer has said that Mahoney will be honoured in the Fraiser revival.

"His loss is and was devastating and must be given the proper attention in honour of the extraordinary man he was and the contribution he made to the show and to the acting profession," the actor shared.

"We will most certainly be honouring him according to his merit. A man of merit he remains to this day."

Frasier will stream on Paramount+ in the US.
