Freak accident claims life of teen during Watershed Festival in Grant County

A freak accident claimed the life of a 19-year-old from Puyallup last weekend.

According to the Grant County Sheriff’s Office, a man from Roseburg, Oregon, was driving a Toyota Tundra at the Gorge Campground towing a wake surfboard when Carson Santos, 19, of Puyallup, was running beside the boat trailer.

When Santos tried to jump onto the tongue of the trailer, he lost his footing and fell to the ground, which resulted in the boat trailer running over him.

Medical assistance was provided to Santos, but the teen succumbed to his injuries.

According to the Grant County Sheriff’s Office, the driver of the truck was not under the influence of drugs or alcohol at the time of the tragic accident.
