Freddy's Frozen Custard planned in Grove City’s Parkway Centre East

A new Freddy's Frozen Custard and Steakburgers restaurant is planned at 4108 Buckeye Parkway in Grove City.

The proposal, which is going through the city approval process, calls for a new building covering 3,027 square feet on the 1.1-acre site in Parkway Centre East.

The restaurant is expected to create 24 full-time jobs and 24 part-time jobs, city documents show.

Plans call for a drive-thru with two order points merging into one lane for pickup. An outdoor eating area on the restaurant's west side would have five tables covered by a red awning with white stripes.

The property perimeter would be screened with shrubs 36 inches tall and ornamental trees.

The site is owned by Plaza Street Fund 262 LLC and the developer is Plaza Street Partners, headquartered in Prairie Village, Kansas.

The site currently is zoned planned unit development commercial, and Grove City Council has given the development plan application one reading. The developer requested Nov. 21 that further action on the application be postponed to December.

The city planning commission recommended the plan for approval Nov. 8.

Also Nov. 21, City Council approved an application to build an addition to the Chick-Fil-A at 1696 Stringtown Road and to reconfigure the drive-thru with the addition of a canopy.

The addition would cover 587 square feet at the rear of the existing building, city records show.

It's designed to expand the restaurant's kitchen and increase capacity.

The drive-thru would be modified to add more lanes to increase stacking capacity beyond order points, where customers wait for orders to be delivered to their vehicles.

Plans call for the order stations to be moved from the rear of the building to its west side, where they will be covered by a new canopy 28 feet wide by 54 feet long, supported by brick columns.

A new door would be added to the building to allow employees to walk orders to cars.

The new configuration will add a curbed landscaped median along the restaurant's west side, with trees and shrubs.
