Frederick claims Region 1B cross-country crowns, Northwestern runners win both races

Northwestern runners swept the individual titles and Frederick won both team championships Wednesday at the Region 1B cross-country meet at the Webster Golf Course.

Northwestern's Lincoln Woodring took the boys race in 17:49.91. Northwestern's Ella Boekelheide repeated as the girls division champion in 20:22.53.

At the Region 4B meet in Gettysburg Wednesday, runners from Potter County won both races, and the Battlers won the girls team title. Highmore/Harrold took the boys crown.

Nicholas Schlachter finished first in the boys race in 17:14.73. Potter County runners claimed four of the five top spots in the girls race, led by Dannika Kaup in 19:05.79.

At the Region 1A meet Thursday in Webster, the Milbank boys won the team title. Aberdeen Roncalli finished third in the team standings to qualify for next weekend's state meet. Payton Brown led the charge for the Bulldogs, winning the race in 17:03.42.

Halle Bauer of Great Plains Lutheran won the girls race in 19:42.60. Roncalli's Addison Cassady finished fifth in 21:23.05 to qualify individually for the state meet next weekend in Huron. Clark/Willow Lake won the team title.

Miller easily won the boys team championship at the Region 4A meet Thursday in Oacoma. The Rustlers were led by Pierce Baumberger, who won the race in 17:44.

Heidi Olson of Mobridge-Pollock claimed the girls individual title in 19:52. Chamberlain won the girls team division.

Region 1B meet Wednesday in Webster
