An Ozaukee County detective shot a man this morning while serving a felony search warrant for internet crimes against children, according to a press release from the Ozaukee County Sheriff's Office.

The sheriff's department said that while serving a search warrant at a house in Fredonia, a suspect "armed themselves with an edged weapon" and was shot by the detective. The shooting occurred at approximately 7:25 a.m.

The man was transported to a hospital. He is in serious condition.

The detective was also injured and taken to a hospital with what police have described as minor injuries.
