Free adoptions May 12 at Animal Rescue League of Berks County

May 11—All animals age 6 months or older will be free to adopt on May 12 at the Animal Rescue League of Berks County, 58 Kennel Road, Cumru Township.

Storage World, which has several locations in Berks County and one each in York County and New Jersey, is sponsoring the adoption fees.

All adopters must go through the ARL's regular adoption procedures, including the completion of an adoption profile and speaking with an adoption counselor to ensure the pet they select is a good match for their home, family and lifestyle.

Those interested in adopting should bring all family members to the shelter to meet the prospective new pet and their own dogs to meet any dogs they want to adopt. The ARL will be open from 1 p.m. to 6:30 p.m.

Dog adopters need to bring cash or a check for a $7 dog license, which is required at the time of adoption under Pennsylvania law, and should bring a collar and leash. Collars and leashes are also available for purchase. Feline adopters should bring a cat carrier or one can be purchased from the ARL for $5.

Available pets can be seen online at berksarl.org/pets/.
