Free books on electric vehicles available at Monroe County Community College

The new publication “EV-101: An Introduction — Vehicles, Charging, Power Generation” is available for free at Monroe County Community College.

The books about electric vehicles can be picked up weekdays at the ASET building (building T) at MCCC, 1555 S. Raisinville Road. Copies also are available at some branches of the Monroe County Library System. A digital version will soon be released.

Funding for the project came from the Southeast Michigan Council of Governments' EV Planning & Awareness Grant.

Tom Adamich's "EV-101" is shown. The 28-page publication is available for free at Monroe County Community College. The cover shows Nissan vehicles. "Nissan was one of the first vehicle companies to sell EVs in the U.S. Its Leaf was the first fully electric model sold beginning in December 2010," Adamich said.

The 28-page book was created by Tom Adamich, EV awareness coordinator at MCCC. It covers the basics of EV and micromobility vehicles, charging, e-recreational vehicles, the EV Jobs Academy, e-bikes and charging, EV and internal combustion engine vehicle comparisons, utilities and MCCC’s EV curriculum.

“EV-101” contains several photos and graphs. Adamich spent four months on the book. It was designed by Christy Bloom from Dennison, Ohio's Bloom's Printing and printed by Monroe's Lamour Printing.

“My personal goal for this whole project has always been to provide credible information from all perspectives about electrification to enable people to better understand the facts, the pros/cons and use the information to make their own decisions,” Adamich said.

Adamich also encourages residents to take the Monroe County EV Survey. It is available at surveymonkey.com/r/GBWFZL6.

"This survey is an opportunity to share your opinion about important EV concepts — purchase, maintenance, charging, etc.," Adamich said. "This survey is a joint effort among the city of Monroe, Michigan, the city of Luna Pier, Michigan, and Monroe County Community College."

For more information about the survey, contact the MCCC Institutional Research Office at mhumphreys@monroeccc.edu or 734-384-4236.
