Free car washes, doughnuts among other thank-you deals being offered on Veterans Day

On Friday, Nov. 11, in honor of Veterans Day, veterans and active-duty military will be able to get a free car wash at all Quick Quack Car Wash locations.

According to a Quick Quack news release, all veteran/ active-duty military members should let the cashier know that they want the top wash and let the cashiers know they served or are currently serving, no proof of I.D. necessary.

“We salute and thank the brave men and women who have served our country, including the many who work at Quick Quack Car Wash,” said Amaris Garcia, Director of Marketing & Public Relations in the release. “This has been an annual tradition for us, and we look forward to this as a way to thank our veterans and to show our appreciation to the courageous heroes in our community.”

Quick Quack Car Wash is part of the Grace for Vets international program that unites the car wash industry in honoring veterans in each community with a free car wash. To find a location closest to you, visit www.dontdrivedirty.com.

Before or after the car wash, if something sweet is on the mind, all retired and active military members can head to participating Dunkin' Donuts locations throughout Amarillo to get a free doughnut of their choice as a "small thank you to their huge service."

Limit is one per guest, while supplies last, with no ID required. The offer is available for in-store only.

"At Dunkin’, we salute those who dedicate themselves to protecting our country," a news release says. "That’s why we’re honoring the devoted members of the military with a free donut on us for Veterans Day. We are giving all retired and active military a small thank you for their huge service – a free donut of their choice on Friday, Nov. 11 at participating Dunkin’ restaurants nationwide."

This free sweet treat and all of Dunkin’s Veterans Day initiatives are part of the brand’s continued commitment to supporting the United States Armed Forces. Through the Dunkin’ Coffee for Our Troops program, the brand has donated more than 235,000 pounds of coffee to troops deployed overseas, sending a case of coffee to deployed troops each week, according to the release. Since 2003, Dunkin’ has sent over 12,000 pounds of coffee to active military members each year. Additionally, Dunkin’ has 40 locations on military bases around the world.

Participating, locally-owned Sport Clips Haircuts franchise locations will recognize Veterans Day on Friday when the company will donate an additional $2 per haircare service nationwide to support “Sport Clips Help A Hero Scholarships” for service members and veterans. The program is in partnership with the Veterans of Foreign Wars of the United States (VFW) and has $11.4 million for military scholarships, supporting 2,400 scholarships to help veterans and service members meet education expenses needed for civilian careers.

This year, Sport Clips is making it easy to donate to Help A Hero at the check-out kiosk following a haircut or by texting “HERO” to 71777.

Many locations are also offering free haircuts to service members and veterans with valid military identification – call your local store to check participation.

NWTHS to host ceremony honoring veterans

Northwest Texas Healthcare System will be hosting its annual Veteran’s Day event to honor veterans with a special salute to employed veterans and recognition of employee’s family members and friends on Friday at 8 a.m. The event will be held at the Northwest front lawn, located at 1501 S. Coulter. The public is invited to attend this brief ceremony that will include Randall County Sheriff’s Office Color Guard and the singing of the National Anthem by Antonio Charles.

According to a news release, the Salute for Veteran’s event is special to NWTHS as it allows the team a time to honor those who have served and continue to serve. American flags will be displayed on the Northwest front lawn with names of employees who have served in the U.S. military and the opportunity for others to honor their loved ones.

“We look forward to honoring all of our veterans, and we wanted to dedicate a special time to recognize our Northwest veterans at the hospital and thank them for their service,” said Ryan Chandler, NWTHS CEO in the release. “This tribute is an opportunity for all Northwest employees and members of our community to come together and acknowledge the incredible sacrifices so many men and women have made for our country and continue to do so today, we are appreciative.”
