Free Christmas dinner in Beaver Falls to serve many

BEAVER FALLS – The 29th Annual Free Christmas Day Dinner & Outreach returns to Beaver Falls High School on Dec. 25.

The event annually has served 1,000 to 1,500 people, providing a Christmas meal, gifts and activities for kids, along with fellowship. The Christian Assembly Reaching Everyone (CARE) ministry at Christian Assembly Church in Beaver Falls coordinates the event.

"It's an exciting announcement since CARE Ministries was unable to have this outreach for the last two years due to COVID," Rebecca Ficca Salopek, outreach coordinator, said. "We partnered with Central United Methodist Church Community Soup Kitchen for the last two years and gave out take-out meals and Blessing Bags and served several hundred families. Yes, it was a blessing, but we could not provide what we had been able to do through all these years serving between 1,000-1,500 and giving our guests access to all new items of clothing, toys, Bibles and devotionals, resource tables with community and social service help from many agencies."

This year's event includes free Polaroid pictures with Santa Claus, The Grinch and Elves, plus craft tables for children, food bags and free raffles.

"The best part of the entire day ― besides an amazing homemade meal of turkey, ham and all the fixings including unbelievable desserts ― is the great fellowship and camaraderie that develops for individuals and families who are alone and unable to provide for themselves and their family," Salopek said.

Dinner is from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.
