ORANGE COUNTY, CA — As the COVID-19 positivity rate in Orange County climbs steadily, county officials are imploring residents to proactively get tested for the illness. In order to make receiving a COVID-19 test easier, Orange County Supervisor Katrina Foley announced that free COVID-19 testing will be administered at OC Fair fairgrounds.
The testing clinic will run during the week, Monday through Friday, from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Residents can schedule an appointment by texting "COVID" to 888-210-6758, Foley said on Twitter.
It is not yet clear if the testing clinic will offer drive-thru services.
Orange County Health Care Agency experts said testing for COVID-19 is strongly recommended when you have symptoms of COVID-19, regardless of whether you are vaccinated or not. Proactive testing is also recommended when you do not have symptoms of COVID-19, but have exposure concerns.
The agency also encouraged residents who are essential workers with frequent contacts with the public to get tested frequently. Lastly, the OC Health Care Agency said, residents should get tested for COVID-19 24 hours before gathering or traveling, and three-to-five days after gathering or traveling, regardless of vaccination status.
