Free COVID-19 vaccines, boosters offered in Manatee, Sarasota this week

The Florida Department of Health will host two COVID-19 vaccine sites this month, the first in Manatee County and another in Sarasota County.

Vaccines will be available Thursday at State-College of Florida Manatee-Sarasota in Bradenton, 5840 26 St W. and later this month on Saturday, Jan. 29, at Betty J. Johnson Library in Sarasota, 2801 Newtown Boulevard.

The clinic at SCF will take place on campus at the Library and Learning Center, rooms 143 and 146 from 12 p.m. to 2 p.m.

If accompanied by a guardian, children 17-years-old and younger can get vaccinated at this location.

The Betty J. Johnson Library site will be fully accessible and have a disability-friendly staff. COVID-19 vaccines will be offered from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. along with sign-language and transportation assistance.

Each site will offer the first dose of Pfizer, Moderna, single-shot Johnson & Johnson, and all boosters.

Walk-ins are accepted at both sites.

03/08/21--Health care professionals vaccinate people as they drive through a line at the Manatee County Public Safety Center in Bradenton at 2101 47th Terrace E. For four weeks the site will administer first doses of the vaccine for COVID-19, and the second four weeks will be for second doses. The vaccination site will be augmented with workers from the state, and will be administer 900-1000 doses a day, said Steve Litschauer, Chief of Emergency Management.
