Free at-home COVID test kits available for Hunterdon County residents

The Hunterdon County Health Department will be distributing a limited supply of free rapid antigen at-home COVID-19 test kits on Tuesday, Feb. 1.

The tests will be distributed as long as supplies last in a drive-thru at the county complex on Route 12 in Raritan Township starting at 11 a.m.

One box containing two CareStart COVID-19 Antigen Home Tests will be distributed per vehicle. According to the instructions the results will be available in 10 minutes.

County Commissioner Shaun Van Doren said that Rep. Tom Malinowski, D-Mercer, an East Amwell resident, was instrumental in securing the tests for Hunterdon County.

"His help is appreciated," Van Doren said.

Earlier this month Commissioner Director John E. Lanza called for more COVID-19 tests for residents.

“Many in the public are seeking COVID testing results in order to visit friends and relatives, to travel for work or pleasure, and some need tests just to return to work," Lanza said in a statement. "Commissioner Van Doren and the Health Department team have the appreciation of the Board of Commissioners and Hunterdon County residents for the swift implementation of these testing resources.”

Flemington Borough's free pop-up testing site is in the parking lot of Borough Hall on Park Avenue and is open 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday to Friday and 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday.

The pop-up testing site is for Flemington residents, municipal employees and employees of borough businesses.

While appointments are preferred, walk-ins are welcome. Appointments can be made online.
